What do you believe is the purpose of a college education?
I believe the purpose of a college education is to help someone further there own knowledge. College is a place to explore your options and the path you want to take. Once you pick this path, you study that field specifically and find out more about it. For me personally, the purpose of a college education is to pursue my dream/goal of becoming an elementary education teacher.

What does it mean to be educated?
To me, being educated means broadening ones horizons and experiencing new things. Being more open to change, and others opinions is a part of what it means to be educated. The purpose of being educated is not just to understand certain material but to become more open and aware of our environment. I think being educated has two parts. One is truly knowledge and the other is openness and willingness to learn new things.

What experiences have you had with education that led you to this belief?
What has led me to the belief of what it means to be educated is, the relationships I have had with certain teachers over the years. One teacher in particular made a tremendous impact in my life. She taught me that teaching and learning is not just solely based on the material but the little things as well. I learned from her that becoming educated could be fun. This opened my eyes to being more open to everything including others opinions, our environment and the knowledge we gain from the material taught to us. The only experience I have had with learning about the purpose of a college education is by talking about it with others. Growing up we were always taught that going to college was a must and that is what we needed to do to further our education and get a career.
